Day 1 was a busy day with great traffic at the Skyway Booth, amazing food at dinner (creole style), and an impressive keynote by Rod Johnson. Check out some of the pictures from Day 1:

Spring Booth
springOne has come to a close, but the excitement for the future is obvious. The conference was well done and we learned a ton. Here’s some closing thoughts and highlights of the last day:
And the iPhone winner is…
Patrick Lowman won the Skyway iPhone giveaway drawing. Congrats Patrick!
Skyway presents
We had a great presentation and demo. Wayne Lund from Accenture did a great job of showing how they use Skyway with Foundation Architecture for getting their clients up and running quickly.
6.1 Scaffolding Excitement
What seemed to impress the participants of Skyway the most, was the ability to create a full pure Java Web Dynamic Project Spring app in a couple minutes through Skyway’s scaffolding capabilities. What does the Scaffolding actually create? With an existing Domain object, you get a ready to run Java Spring MVC 2.5 app that includes:
- The DAO
- Finder methods in the DAO based on each domain object’s field
- The Service with CRUD operations
- The Controller with CRUD operations
- All the necessary spring annotations and config files for a Spring MVC app
- CRUD JSP pages, with CSS and javascript
- JUnits for every Service and Controllers
- Spring Certified Code
- Generated Code that follows Spring Recipes
- Generated Code that looks like you would code it
- A modeling project that you can continue to use for code generation, reuse, and spring on-ramping
- A Dynamic Web Java Project that is separated from the Modeling project so experienced developers can hand code the rest of the application
A ton, eh? And we are talking pure Java – nothing hidden. Don’t believe me? Send me a note and I’ll show ya… I can create everything mentioned above in under a minute – wanna see?

Sean, Jared, and I have made it to springOne Americas in Hollywood, Florida! Day 1 was great as we got to the conference center and setup the booth effortlessly. Thank goodness one of us went through the booth setup certification process :-)

springOne booth setup
After the booth setup we had a steady and good 2 hours of traffic with folks interested in learning more about Skyway. We then ate an excellent dinner – *cough* sponsored by Skyway – and I’m currently on the speedy wireless network *cough* *cough* provided by Skyway!
There is a ton to look forward to this week, including:
- Skyway’s iPhone/Apple $200 gift card giveaway – drawing is Wednesday
- Skyway’s presentation on Thursday 10am to show several demos, including one presented by Accenture
- Demos and discussions at the Skyway Booth
- Candy at the Skyway Booth!!
If you’re here, please stop on by and have a chat – or a Twix. If not, stay tuned for more blogs!!
