This Month's Featured Topic: JavaOne 2008 Recap
Thank you for making our JavaOne 2008 booth a huge success! We had no shortage of visitors to the Skyway Booth to see a live demonstration of Skyway Builder in action. Over 1,100 Java developers stopped by to engage with our Technical Team and learn how Skyway Builder is the only end-to-end modeling tool (Eclipse plugin) for building, testing, and delivering Rich Internet Applications and Web Services for the Spring Framework and Spring MVC. Visitors also had the chance the win an iPod in our Skyway Lego Contest and hear more about their chance at winning $25,000 in the Skyway Cup.

| Skyway Cup 2008 |
We need your help! Rich applications that benefit and delight end users in today’s enterprises, built by developers like you, will be a critical component of the Skyway Software vision. So that you can help us realize our vision as quickly as possible, we have created the Skyway Cup, which will provide almost $50,000 in awards -- no strings attached -- for great solutions built using Skyway Builder. By creating the Skyway Cup, we want to showcase how members of our Skyway Community are using Skyway Builder to build Rich Internet Applications, as well as demonstrate how our members are using Skyway Builder to serve their specific needs. | Webinar: Model Centric Design and Development for Spring |
Skyway and SpringSource are hosting a joint webinar on Wednesday, May 28th at 12pm EST. This session will describe the integration of Skyway Software and SpringSource and how developers can use Skyway Builder to modify/customize existing Spring applications quickly and accurately. After a brief architectural review of Skyway’s and Spring’s tools, attendees will learn how to access Spring apps in Skyway Builder (using Eclipse), apply Skyway facets/natures, and autowire for Spring to redeploy the app to the same (or new) infrastructure. Register today at SpringSource. |

| Skyway Builder CE Beta 3 Release | | |
The Skyway development community has been diligently working on delivering the first GA version of Skyway Builder CE, the open-source version of Skyway's model-centric development tool. On May 5th (and just in time for JavaOne 2008) the community made a major leap forward with the release of the third beta of Skyway Builder Community Edition. With this release the team fixed bugs, improved a lot of existing functionality, and added some new features. Beta 3 is available for immediate download. This release is the final beta version of Skyway Builder CE, and the team is currently focusing on the first release candidate (RC1) which is due to be released in the next two weeks.

| Additional Sample Projects (RSS, Groovy, XML and ExtJS) | | |
Two additional sample projects have been added to the community portal to demonstrate the use of RSS, Groovy, XML and ExtJS in the development of web applications using Skyway Builder CE. The first project is called Flickr Viewer, and it demonstrates the use of Groovy for making RSS calls to Flickr (Yahoo's photo sharing site) and parsing the resulting XML into a data model defined by the project. The second project is called Presidents, and it's based on a tutorial from the ExtJS javascript library website. Presidents is an implementation of the sample project; however, Skyway Builder is being used for the backend processing. It demonstrates the use of Skyway Builder with an independently developed AJAX-based front-end application. The applications can be downloaded here, and there's a discussion forum for all sample applications.

| Forums - Stay in touch | | |
Did you know that the Skyway Forums are RSS enabled? Each forum and thread has an RSS Feed that you can use to be notified of new posts or replies. If you want to track all forums, we have also created a single aggregated RSS feed that combines all the individual forum feeds. In addition to the RSS feeds, a registered Skyway Community member can also subscribe to categories or threads, in which case you will be notified via email when a new post or reply is posted. This is particularly useful when you want to be immediately notified of a reply to a thread initiated by you.
